Rocket Money Discount Codes: Do Any Actually Work?
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

Let’s answer the question you came here for in one sentence: Rocket Money does not issue public promo codes, coupon codes, or discount codes. There is no checkout box to paste a code into. Every “50% OFF ROCKET MONEY” result you will find on a coupon aggregator is scraped, auto-generated, or simply invented — and none of them will work.

That is the bad news. The good news is that Rocket Money is one of the few subscription apps where you get to choose your own price, which turns out to be a better deal than most coupon codes would be anyway. Premium runs on a “pay what you think is fair” sliding scale, and there is a free trial on top of it.

What You Get

See all your accounts and finances in one place
Cancel unwanted subscriptions and lower your bills
Build budgets and automate your savings
Track net worth, credit score, and savings goals

This is also a good moment to note that the core thing Rocket Money sells — killing subscriptions you forgot about — is something the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will walk you through doing yourself, for free. Rocket Money’s pitch is that it does the calling and writing for you.

Below: the four legitimate ways to pay less, what the free tier actually covers, and how to spot the fake-coupon sites.

Start Your 7-Day Free Trial of Rocket Money Premium

Do Rocket Money Promo Codes Actually Exist?

No. And it is worth understanding why, because it explains the whole pricing model.

Rocket Money has no web checkout with a promo field. You sign up in the app — or through the App Store or Google Play — and when you upgrade to Premium you are shown a slider and asked to pick your own price. There is nowhere for a code to go. Rocket Money’s own Help Center never mentions promo codes, coupons, or redemption, because the discount is built into the pricing mechanism itself.

Companies that run promo codes do it to give some customers a lower price without publishing it. Rocket Money skipped the middle step and let everyone pick the lower price. That is an unusual business model, and it is also more generous than a 20%-off code.

4 Legitimate Ways to Pay Less for Rocket Money

1. Start With the 7-Day Free Trial

New Premium members get a 7-day free trial. That is a full week of subscription cancellation, unlimited budgets, net worth tracking, and credit monitoring at no cost. If Rocket Money finds and kills two forgotten subscriptions in that week, it has already paid for a year of itself before you have spent anything.

2. Set the Sliding Scale to the Lowest Price

budget tracker

This is the real “discount code.” When you upgrade, Rocket Money asks you to choose what to pay. As of publication the range runs from roughly $7 to $14 per month, though Rocket Money says prices can vary at times and across platforms, so check what your app actually shows you.

Here is the part most people miss: every Premium feature unlocks at every price point. Choosing $7 does not give you a lesser version of Premium. The slider is a voluntary contribution, not a tier. Setting it to the floor is not gaming the system — it is the system.

3. Stay on the Free Tier If You Only Need Tracking

spending tracker

The 100%-off option. Rocket Money’s free tier is more useful than most people assume, and if all you want is visibility rather than automation, it may be all you need.

The free tier gives you subscription detection — you can see every recurring charge Rocket Money finds — you just have to cancel them yourself. Given that the CFPB process linked above is free, that is a perfectly reasonable trade.

4. Control What Bill Negotiation Costs You

rocket money bill negotiation

Bill negotiation is priced separately from your subscription, and it is the line item people get surprised by. Rocket Money takes between 35% and 60% of your first year of savings, charged once, and only if the negotiation actually succeeds.

Two things to know:

You choose the percentage within that range. Picking 35% instead of 60% is a real saving on a real bill.

It is available on the free tier too. You do not need Premium to use bill negotiation, so this is not a reason to upgrade.

After the first year, you keep 100% of the savings. The fee is one-time rather than recurring — but it is non-refundable once charged, and there is a short window before it hits, so read the confirmation screen rather than tapping through it.

The honest dividing line: free tells you what is happening, Premium does something about it. If you are disciplined enough to act on the information yourself, free is genuinely fine.

Is Rocket Money Premium Worth Paying For?

credit score monitoring

At the $7 floor, Premium costs $84 a year. The break-even question is simple: does it save you more than $84?

For most people who sign up, the answer is yes on day one, because almost everyone is paying for at least one subscription they forgot about — a streaming service, a trial that converted, an app they used twice in 2023. A single $15-a-month cancellation covers the entire year.

Where it stops being worth it is if you have already done that cleanup. Once your recurring charges are lean, you are paying for budgeting and net worth tracking, and there are free tools that do those adequately. For a fuller feature-by-feature breakdown, see our Rocket Money Review.

Which is why the free trial matters more than any discount code would. Seven days is enough to find out whether you have money leaking, and if you do not, you cancel and pay nothing.

Watch Out for Fake Rocket Money Coupon Sites

Search “Rocket Money discount code” and you will get pages of results from coupon aggregators promising 50%, 75%, even 90% off. These sites auto-generate listings for thousands of brands regardless of whether those brands run coupon programs. Rocket Money does not.

What to expect if you try one:

The code will not work, because there is no field to enter it in.

You may be redirected through affiliate tracking that has nothing to do with a discount.

Some of these sites push browser extensions or newsletter signups as the real product.

Nothing here is catastrophic, but it is wasted time chasing a discount that already exists inside the app as a slider.

How to Get the Best Price on Rocket Money

rocket money cancel subscription

Start the 7-day free trial rather than paying up front.

Connect your accounts and let it scan for recurring charges — this is where the value shows up fastest.

Cancel what you find during the trial week.

Set the slider to the lowest price when the trial ends. Every Premium feature is included at the floor.

If you use bill negotiation, choose 35% rather than the higher end of the range.

Drop to the free tier if your subscriptions are already clean — detection stays, you just cancel things yourself.

Get 7 Days of Rocket Money Premium Free, Then Pay What You Think Is Fair

The Bottom Line

There are no Rocket Money discount codes, and you do not need one. The sliding scale means you set your own price, every Premium feature unlocks at the bottom of the range, and the 7-day free trial lets you test the whole thing before a dollar moves.

Skip the coupon sites. Start the trial, find the subscriptions you forgot about, and decide from there whether Premium earns its place. If it does not, the free tier will still show you every recurring charge hitting your account.

Rocket Money Discount Code FAQs

Are there any working Rocket Money promo codes?

No. Rocket Money does not issue public promo codes or coupon codes, and there is no field to enter one during signup. Codes advertised on coupon aggregator sites are auto-generated and will not work. The genuine ways to save are the 7-day free trial, setting the sliding scale to its lowest price, and the free tier.

How much does Rocket Money Premium cost?

Rocket Money Premium uses a pay-what-you-think-is-fair sliding scale, currently running from roughly $7 to $14 per month. Rocket Money notes prices can vary at times and across platforms, so check what your app displays. Every Premium feature is included regardless of which price you choose.

Does Rocket Money have a free trial?

Yes. New Premium members get a 7-day free trial with full access to subscription cancellation, unlimited budgets, net worth tracking, and credit monitoring. You are billed the amount you selected once the trial ends.

Is Rocket Money free?

Rocket Money has a usable free tier that includes recurring subscription detection, an upcoming bills timeline, basic budgeting with two custom categories, a credit score snapshot, and access to bill negotiation. Premium adds done-for-you cancellation, net worth tracking, unlimited budgets, and full credit reports.

How much does Rocket Money charge for bill negotiation?

Rocket Money takes between 35% and 60% of your first year of savings as a one-time fee, and only charges it if the negotiation succeeds. You choose the percentage within that range, and bill negotiation is available to free members as well as Premium members.

Can I cancel Rocket Money Premium?

Yes. You can cancel Premium at any time, including during the free trial, and you keep access to the free tier afterward.
