The 10 Most Active Investors in NYC Startups in Q2 2026 – AlleyWatch
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

New York City’s venture market produced $8.88 billion across 233 deals in Q2 2026 — the strongest second quarter in the city’s history, and a 46% surge in capital year-over-year on just 2% more deals. That gap between capital growth and deal count growth tells you something important about the market’s structure right now: this was not a rising tide that lifted all boats. It was a concentrated surge at the top, with 24 companies raising $100 million or more and the top 10 deals alone absorbing 43% of all capital deployed.

What follows is an analysis of which investors were most active in NYC-headquartered startups in Q2 2026, ranked by number of investments — a count-based ranking that measures presence across the ecosystem, not just the ability to write one transformational check. Data sourced from the AlleyWatch NYC Funding Index.

19 deals

BoxGroup

Ramp · $750M Series FStandard Bots · $200M Series CNourish · $100M Series CGarner Health · $100M Series EOrnn AI · $33M Seed

BoxGroup led all investors in NYC startup activity in Q2 2026 with 9 deals, and the range of those deals is what stands out. The New York-based seed fund, co-founded by David Tisch and Adam Rothenberg, participated in everything from Ornn AI’s $33M seed — a financial infrastructure company building compute exchange products for the AI buildout — to Ramp’s $750M Series F at a $44 billion valuation. BoxGroup’s Q2 activity reflects its model of staying on the cap table across a company’s full lifecycle, from first check through late-stage follow-ons at its best-performing portfolio companies.

28 deals

Y Combinator

Nourish · $100M Series CTaktile · $110M Series C

Y Combinator placed 8 investments in NYC startups in Q2, including Nourish ($100M Series C) and Taktile ($110M Series C, led by Goldman Sachs Growth Equity). The Q2 NYC portfolio spanned health tech, AI-powered fintech decisioning, and enterprise software. YC’s presence at the growth stage — participating in $100M+ rounds rather than just seeding companies through its accelerator program — reflects how deep its NYC alumni network has become a decade into the city’s tech maturation.

37 deals

General Catalyst

Standard Bots · $200M Series CRamp · $750M Series F

General Catalyst logged 7 NYC investments in Q2, including Standard Bots’ $200M Series C in AI-driven industrial robotics and participation in Ramp’s $750M Series F. The firm deployed across earlier stages as well, building new positions while following on in existing portfolio companies. GC has maintained a New York office and has been one of the more consistently active multi-stage platforms in the city across recent quarters.

47 deals

Andreessen Horowitz

Ornn AI · $33M SeedMoment · $78M Series C

a16z matched General Catalyst at 7 NYC investments in Q2. The firm led Ornn AI’s $33M seed round — backing a company building compute exchange and financing products for AI infrastructure — and participated in Moment’s $78M Series C alongside Index Ventures. The firm’s Q2 NYC activity spans seed through growth stage, with concentration in AI-native financial infrastructure companies.

56 deals

Index Ventures

Moment · $78M Series CNourish · $100M Series CTaktile · $110M Series C

Index recorded 6 NYC investments in Q2. Three of those deals sit directly at the intersection of AI and financial services: Nourish ($100M Series C in health tech), Moment ($78M Series C in AI investment management infrastructure, which Index led), and Taktile ($110M Series C in AI-powered decisioning for banks and fintechs). Index’s Q2 NYC concentration in that category is notable — the firm has historically backed companies like Adyen and Robinhood, and its Q2 deployment reflects continued conviction in financial services as a primary NYC thesis.

65 deals

Alumni Ventures

Alumni Ventures placed 5 investments in NYC startups in Q2. The firm’s model — deploying smaller checks across a high volume of companies, anchored by its network of university alumni investors — produces consistent deal counts without leading rounds or setting terms. Its Q2 NYC activity spanned seed through Series A across health tech, enterprise AI, and fintech.

75 deals

Kleiner Perkins

Manifest OS · $60M Series A

Kleiner Perkins recorded 5 NYC investments in Q2, with Manifest OS’s $60M Series A among the most notable. Manifest OS is an AI-native law firm operating system founded in 2025 — one year old at the time of the raise — backed by Kleiner alongside Menlo Ventures and First Round Capital. The firm’s Q2 NYC portfolio also included deals in AI infrastructure and enterprise software.

84 deals

Khosla Ventures

Ramp · $750M Series FGeneral Intuition · $320M Series A

Khosla Ventures made 4 NYC investments in Q2, including participation in Ramp’s $750M Series F and leading General Intuition’s $320M Series A — the frontier AI research lab training world models on gameplay data, which closed in June as one of the quarter’s defining rounds. Khosla’s Q2 NYC activity puts it on both ends of the maturity spectrum: one of the city’s most established fintechs and one of its newest research organizations.

94 deals

Bain Capital Ventures

Actively · $45M Series B

Bain Capital Ventures logged 4 NYC investments in Q2, including Actively’s $45M Series B — an AI-powered revenue intelligence platform for enterprise sales teams. The firm’s Q2 NYC activity was concentrated in B2B software and enterprise AI, consistent with its historical investment focus. Bain Capital Ventures has maintained a steady deployment pace in NYC across recent years at the Series A and B stages.

104 deals

Neo

Actively · $45M Series B

Neo made 4 NYC investments in Q2, including participation in Actively’s $45M Series B alongside Bain Capital Ventures. The firm, led by Ali Partovi, focuses on backing technical founders early across AI, software, and fintech. Four investments in Q2 is consistent with Neo’s typical NYC quarterly pace.
