Shares of Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), backed by the Tata Group, dropped 2% to their day’s low of Rs 719 on the BSE on Wednesday after the hotel chain reported a 18.5% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 390 crore in the first quarter of FY27.

IHCL MD and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said Q1 FY27 marked the company’s 17th consecutive best-ever quarter. EBITDA rose to Rs 753 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded by 80 basis points to 31.1%. He attributed the steady performance to IHCL’s diversified portfolio of brands and businesses, which helped offset macroeconomic headwinds.

Key growth drivers during the quarter included a 14% increase in revenue per available room (RevPAR) at domestic like-for-like hotels, a 22% rise in revenue from growth businesses, a 26% increase in management fee income and strong performance from recent acquisitions.

IHCL added 20 new signings during the quarter, taking its overall portfolio to 645 hotels, with a pipeline of 263 properties. The company also opened 11 hotels, including Taj properties in Frankfurt and Kruger National Park in South Africa. Chhatwal said 15 hotels from the ANK Hotels and Pride Hospitality portfolios were migrated to IHCL’s brand portfolio, with the company planning to maintain the pace of expansion in the coming quarters.

Airline and fuel disruptions affected the performance of TajSATS Air Catering, resulting in a 10% decline in its EBITDA. The air and institutional catering business reported revenue of Rs 300 crore and EBITDA of Rs 62 crore during the quarter. Chhatwal said the company’s performance would have been stronger without these disruptions, adding that the first three weeks of the ongoing quarter have been strong. Supported by its diversified brands, recent acquisitions, like-for-like growth momentum and robust domestic demand across business and leisure segments, IHCL maintained its guidance for double-digit revenue growth for the full fiscal year.On a standalone basis, IHCL reported revenue of Rs 1,298 crore during the quarter, driven by 14% RevPAR growth. Standalone EBITDA margin stood at 41.8%, an expansion of 380 basis points, while net profit came in at Rs 337 crore. CFO Ankur Dalwani said renovated assets in key markets such as Goa, Delhi and Bengaluru were a key contributor to the performance. On a consolidated basis, IHCL had gross cash of Rs 4,439 crore as of June 30, 2026.

IHCL’s growth businesses, including Ginger, Qmin, amã Stays & Trails and Tree of Life, reported enterprise revenue of Rs 350 crore, representing a 65% year-on-year increase.
