Silver (SI=F) July futures opened at $63.85 per ounce on Monday, 3.7% lower than Friday’s closing price of $66.32. The price of silver rebounded to Friday’s level in early trading, moving up to $66.42 by 8:45 a.m. ET.
Like gold, silver prices are up this morning post-opening, moving back up to Friday-close levels. Negotiations with Iran are underway, despite getting off to a rocky start this weekend.
Later this week, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, will further inform the markets on the impact of inflation during May. With several Fed committee members expecting rate hikes later this year, Silver prices could remain muted at least for the time being.
