Justice Barrett’s home targeted in attempted swatting call

Police responded Wednesday night to what they thought was a swatting attempt at the northern Virginia home of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
Fairfax County, Virginia, dispatchers received a report of “two or three gunshots” and voices arguing at Barrett’s address, according to a story by Bloomberg Law.
Bloomberg Law obtained audio of the dispatch activity.
“Unknown if it’s going to be a swatting situation or not,” a dispatcher said, according to Bloomberg Law.
The Fairfax County police later confirmed that it thought that the call was a swatting attempt.
Swatting involves making a false emergency report to bring armed officers to a victim’s location.
In an emailed statement, the Fairfax County police said its officers “immediately coordinated with Supreme Court police personnel” at Barrett’s residence to determine that the report was a hoax.
