What’s New at Canopy: Fall 2025
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

The Past 6 Months

Over the past six months, we’ve been focused on unclunking firm workflows, simplifying client engagement, and giving your team more ways to work smarter.

From major AI-powered upgrades in Smart Intake to big wins in Engagements, here’s a look at what’s new in Canopy since this Spring.

Smart Intake Just Got Smarter

The Smart Intake experience has evolved from a powerful workflow tool into a truly intelligent engine for onboarding, re-engagement, and document gathering.

Here’s what’s new:

AI Document Request Lists (DRLs): Automatically generate custom request lists using files on a client’s record, like proforma data.
Respond with AI + Pre-Fill: Questionnaires can now auto-fill known fields and provide suggested responses to clients, making intake faster for clients and simpler for staff.
AI Document Matching: Files are now auto-matched to checklist items the moment they’re uploaded. No more manual checking.
AI Document Renaming: Uploaded files are auto-classified and then renamed using global naming rules. Consistency and time savings, handled.
Questionnaire Enhancements: You can now send secure links—no portal login required. Great for hesitant clients or those short on time. Clients can review answers before submitting. And conditional logic got better.

Engagements, Reimagined

Our all-new Engagements experience puts your firm’s best foot forward with every proposal.

Here’s what’s changed:

Embedded Media: Add welcome messages, videos, PDFs, or brochures directly into your engagements.
Ever-Present Preview: See what clients will see in real time – no toggling or test-sending required.
Tiered Packages: Offer multiple pricing options side by side to increase transparency, reduce negotiation, and unlock upsell potential.

Now, your engagements don’t just get signed, they tell a story about your firm’s value.

Expanded Migration Support

Making the move to Canopy? We’ve expanded what our team can help you migrate:

Newly Supported: Roles, invoices, and WIP time entries
Already Included: Clients, contacts, custom fields, and files

Whether you’re consolidating tools or switching systems entirely, we’ll help you bring your data along safely and accurately.

(PS: We also offer firm-by-firm guidance to make migration easier than ever.)

More Control for Admins

Firm-Level MFA Enforcement: Admins can now require multi-factor authentication across the firm for added security.
Shared Task Filter Views: Easily build and share saved task filters for consistent team-wide visibility.
File History Tracking: Audit who uploaded, renamed, moved, or deleted a file -complete with timestamps

Other Powerful Updates You’ll Want to Know

Subtask Checklists: Add checklists inside individual tasks for step-by-step work visibility.
WUWD (Write Up/Write Down): Time entries can now be calculated based on time worked – perfect for value-based or scope-flexible billing.
Updated CRM: Track and group contacts, clients, and client groups for smarter billing and reporting.
Secure Links for Document Checklists: Just like questionnaires, checklist links can now be shared securely – no login needed.

Up Next? Even More Automation.

As we head into the next season, we’re continuing to push forward with deeper AI automation, more workflow intelligence, and better tools for managing client relationships at scale.
