Are you still finishing up your Christmas shopping?
If so, we’ve compiled a list of books our advisors read throughout the year that would make great gifts this holiday season.
Just Keep Buying: Proven Ways to Save Money and Build Your Wealth by Nick Maggiulli
Investors in their 20s-40s come to mind with this book as they’re ones that have been contributing to investment accounts when they can, but also navigating large life events such as marriage, kids, house buying, changing careers etc. The growth of their investment portfolio may feel slow and hard to see the result compounding investments can provide. Buying stock equities as often as possible whether in up or down markets is the best way to grow your wealth for future flexibility and freedom.
The Front Row Factor: Transform Your Life with the Art of Moment Making by Jon Vroman
Those with high incomes often find it easier to save large chunks of money, but not always as easy to define why they’re saving large amounts. If asking, “what am I building towards?” crosses your mind frequently, then shifting your perspective to live on the front row in all aspects of life may be just what you need. Learn to live in the present and create moments with the financial resources you’ve been blessed with.
Ask: How to Relate to Anyone by Daniel R. Solin
This book would be a good gift for anyone, age teen to adult, who likes connecting with other humans – so most people.
The Psychology of Money: Timeless Lessons on Wealth, Greed, and Happiness by Morgan Housel
‘Doing well with money isn’t necessarily about what you know. It’s about how you behave, and behavior is hard to teach’. The Psychology of Money was one of our favorite ‘non-leisure’ reads of the year and the reason is summarized in the quote above that is featured on the back cover. Rather than relying on technical terms and industry jargon, the emphasis is placed on how your behavior and relationship with money can be a main driver in building long-term wealth. All shared through stories and actionable lessons that inspire you to live a wealthy life by making smart decisions.
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain
A great book for the Introvert, Extrovert, and anyone who would like to better understand the value in both personality types. Using research to support its claims, Quiet was insightful, fascinating to read and has inspired us to create more space for quiet creators and leaders of all ages to thrive outside of the status quo. Quiet makes for a great audio book gift as well!
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
If you read one historical fiction book this year, this should be it. Different from your typical WWII setting this read features three female lead characters and a touch of the royal family. This book will keep you intrigued until the end. (An FSI Ladies book club read/recommendation).
Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson
A memorable story of a family lineage, secrets, identity, complicated relationships, race, and Caribbean black cake. This one stayed with us a while, in a good way. (Darian and Haley recommendation).
Ladies Get Paid by Claire Wasserman
It reads like a pep talk from a friend, providing motivation to make adjustments, improve your career prospects, and prosper.
You. Are. The. One. by Kute Blackson
This book is great if you want to spend more time reflecting on your purpose in life and personal development. The author is a motivational speaker who takes his clients on a 14 day journey into the slums of India with hardly any material possessions. There, he challenges them to face and overcome challenges that have been setting them back from realizing their full potential. This book will make you feel energized and ready to put your goals into action!
