Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the declined 1.36%.
The best performers of the session on the were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 14.44% or 184.00 points to trade at 1,458.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Rakuten Inc (TYO:) added 3.51% or 23.20 points to end at 684.70 and Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 2.71% or 16.00 points to 606.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (TYO:), which fell 5.51% or 333.00 points to trade at 5,716.00 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (TYO:) declined 4.54% or 108.00 points to end at 2,272.50 and Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:) was down 3.96% or 31.20 points to 756.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2461 to 1180 and 250 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.36% to 19.72.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.62% or 0.48 to $76.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.40% or 0.33 to hit $82.10 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 4.35 to trade at $2,022.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 147.79, while EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 160.18.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 103.36.
