New Jersey Tax-Relief Events: Three July Dates Near Seniors

Thousands of New Jersey seniors have a chance to get free, in-person help with the state’s new combined property tax relief application this week. The New Jersey Division of Taxation is holding several filing assistance events in July where residents can receive one-on-one help completing the new PAS-1 application for Senior Freeze, ANCHOR, and Stay NJ benefits.

Beginning this year, eligible homeowners use a single PAS-1 application to apply for three major property tax relief programs: Senior Freeze, ANCHOR, and Stay NJ, replacing the separate applications used in previous years. However, there are three main dates coming up this week that residents need to be aware of.

1. Crestwood Village Filing Event: July 14

Located in the heart of Manchester Township, this event offers a convenient opportunity for residents in the Whiting area to receive direct guidance. Representatives from the Division of Taxation will be on-site to help you navigate the 2025 New Jersey property tax relief application process from start to finish. You should arrive early with all necessary financial documentation, including your Social Security number and proof of property taxes paid, to ensure a smooth filing experience. This specific workshop is an excellent choice for those who prefer face-to-face assistance over online submission portals or mailing in paper forms.

2. East Greenwich Senior Filing Assistance: July 15

If you are located in the southern part of the state, head over to the East Greenwich Senior Citizens Committee event on July 15. This workshop is dedicated to helping seniors and residents with disabilities understand their eligibility for the current cycle of New Jersey property tax relief. The organizers have streamlined the process, ensuring that attendees can receive help with both electronic and paper applications in one sitting. Since these events are highly attended, arriving promptly when doors open at 1:00 p.m. is a smart strategy to avoid long wait times.

3. The Square Lakewood Filing Event: July 15

Also taking place on July 15, the Lakewood Township event offers another critical window of support for seniors in the Ocean County area. By collaborating with local senior service organizations, the state ensures that New Jersey property tax relief information reaches those who need it most. Whether you are applying for the Senior Freeze to stabilize your taxes or the ANCHOR benefit to offset rising costs, this event provides the necessary technical support to get it done. Staff will be ready to walk you through the PAS-1 form, which acts as a “one-stop shop” for determining eligibility across the state’s various tax-saving programs.

What To Bring To Your Appointment

There are several things you should bring to your appointment for tax relief in New Jersey. Make sure you bring:

Government-issued photo ID
Social Security number
Proof of 2025 income
Property tax information
Any state tax correspondence you’ve received
Your PAS-1 application if you’ve already started it

These are just three of dozens of filing assistance events scheduled across New Jersey through September as the Division of Taxation helps residents complete the new property tax relief application.

Filing early can also speed up payments. According to New Jersey guidance, eligible Senior Freeze reimbursements are expected to begin as early as mid-July for the earliest applicants, while ANCHOR benefits are expected later in the fall and Stay NJ payments are scheduled afterward.

Maximizing Your Hard-Earned Financial Benefits

The true value of these state-sponsored workshops lies in the clarity they provide regarding your eligibility for multiple layers of New Jersey property tax relief. By combining the Senior Freeze, ANCHOR, and the new Stay NJ benefit, many seniors can see a significant reduction in their total housing costs.

Even if you don’t qualify for every program, attending one of these free events can help determine which benefits you’re eligible for and prevent common application mistakes. With the new PAS-1 combining multiple programs into one application, getting in-person assistance may be the easiest way to maximize your property tax relief.

Keep in mind that filing deadlines are strict, and relying on in-person support is an excellent way to prevent common errors that could lead to delays in your payment. Your home should be a place of comfort, not a source of financial anxiety, so take advantage of these resources while they are available in your community.

Are you planning to attend a local filing event this month, or do you have a question about which property tax program you might qualify for? Let us know in the comments below!
