Ford Recalls Over 387K Vehicles. See the Affected Models

Ford Motor Company is recalling over 387,000 vehicles due to a potential issue with the seats that could increase the risk of an injury.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted a recall stating that certain vehicles may have a defect that could result in occupants not being properly restrained.

“The switch for the easy-entry second-row outer seats may bind or stick, resulting in the seats unlatching, tipping, or sliding unexpectedly,” the agency noted.

Here’s what to know about what models are included in the recall and what car owners should do next.

Which Models Are Included in the Recall?

According to the NHTSA, 387,911 vehicles total are potentially affected. The recall number is 26S52.

The models included are:

2020-2026 Ford Explorer (227,520 vehicles)
2020-2027 Lincoln Aviator (160,391 vehicles)

The safety recall report highlights warning signs car owners should look out for: “If the button is stuck in the down position, the customer may not be able to use the easy entry feature or return the seat to its normal position after using the easy entry feature.”

What Should Car Owners Do Next?

Car owners are advised to take their vehicles to the dealership, where the bezel around the switch will be inspected and replaced at no charge if needed.

Owners will also be notified about the safety risk via mail in late July. Another letter regarding the remedy is expected to be sent out in January.

Ford can be reached at 866-436-7332.
