Countdown! | naked capitalism

Readers have responded generously to our last appeal, to meet our final fundraiser goal of $45,000 for more original reporting and to surpass our new donor target of 1500 contributors. We’re now at 1443 donors! We have eleven hours left. Can you push us over the top?

Since our last update, only a bit over hours ago, you’ve gotten us closer to our final financial target. We are now at $12,535, making progress but still some distance from our goal of $45,000 for original reporting. Nevertheless, the uptick in the closing hours is gratifying, since it confirms how much the Naked Capitalism community values this work and wants this site to get even better.

Remember ever dollar now goes for original reporting!  Will you be the one who hits one of these last goals by going to our Tip Jar?

Our 2025 fundraiser closes at midnight Pacific time. Can you help us keep punching above our weight? Whatever you can give, $5, $50, or $5,000 all helps get us to these final goals and give you more original reporting (along with mordant wit, great sidebar chat and sweet animals)!

Readers are chiming in. From David S:

Thanks so much for keeping Naked Capitalism going, as things get more and more extreme, NC keeps a rational unbiased look at current events without the sugar coating. It is exactly what is needed.

From Mucho:

I donated earlier this week, but I also want to donate a little time to tell how much this community means to me. Being short on time (2 very young kids) I will try with a more… aqueous comparison.

Without Naked capitalism, the news looks like a tidal wave of information. Ever been hit by a wave while swimming (or surfing) in the sea and washing up on shore? That’s what it feels like to me. In these times, it feels that you not only get the centrifugal, disorienting motion in a direction that you didn’t want, but you also hit the rocky bottom various times. You end up covered in sand, seaweed and garbage, gasping for air while feeling somehow more stupid than you went in.

With naked capitalism, I feel like I am able to dive in underwater and get a grip. It enables me to see the currents, and the various nooks, crannies, and shadowy throughs in the bottom. It gives me air to breathe, a light to search, and flippers or an underwater jet to move. It even points out where to look for cute animals!

Thanks you Yves & other writers, and keep it up!

And NoCarrier:

Thank you for your continued dedication. I originally found the site way back via what I believe was a guest column that Yves had run in place of Glennwald in Salon while he was away on vacation; if I’m remembering correctly, probably in the late aughts during the acute crisis phase. I can’t think of a more significant catalyst to the evolution of my political consciousness and intellect in the intervening years. Nor can I think of a better place to help stay informed and, where possible, level-headed in these increasingly interesting times. My donation is much more modest than I’d prefer given how much I get out of your ongoing efforts, but alas, New England rents don’t allow for much of a fun budget for those of us in the bottom 95% of the income distribution.

Thank you again for all the hard work – it is truly and greatly appreciated!

And Amy P:

Naked Capitalism is a wonderful resource to get information that the MSM chooses not to cover thus providing a clearer picture of the events on the world stage. Please keep going forever, we need you and your team!

And Joe S:

Thank you and your staff for all that you do to help me understand the strange tides of these times.

Every dollar you give now goes to support more original reporting. And even though we’re delighted to have raised over $10,000, consider how modest that is compared to newsroom budgets, let alone that of the think tanks whose output we regularly take down.

Be one of the last to push our fundraiser over the top. Let’s see if we can get to 1500 donors and provide even more funding for original reporting before the close of this effort, midnight PDT. Every donation helps get us towards our goals and make this site even better.

There are multiple ways to give. The first is the fundraiser page, where you can use a debit card, credit card, PayPal account (the charge will be in the name of Aurora Advisors), Clover or Wise.

You can also send a check (or multiple post-dated checks) in the name of Aurora Advisors Incorporated to

Aurora Advisors IncorporatedPO Box 110105Brooklyn NY 11211-0105

Please also send an e-mail to [email protected] with the headline “Check is in the mail” (and just the $ en route in the message) to have your contribution included in the total number of donations.

Again, I’m deeply gratified by this response from readers. Conor, Nick, Conor, KLG, Haig, Nat, Curro, semper loqitur and I want to give a big thanks to all of you who have donated already. If you can give a little, $5, $10, $50 or $5,000, it all has an impact. You are investing in creating a different debate, a different vision, and a different, more just society.
