The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) learned of nine additional incidents, raising concerns about the state of performance of Alphabet’s Waymo (NASDAQ:GOOG) self-driving vehicles, Reuters reported on Friday.
Last week, the NHTSA launched an investigation into Waymo, acting on reports of collisions and instances in which the vehicles’ automated driving system appeared to disobey traffic safety rules.
The agency said several incidents under investigation “involved collisions with clearly visible objects that a competent driver would be expected to avoid.”
NHTSA has asked Waymo to answer a series of questions by June 11 about the incidents and provide video for all the incidents, the Reuters report added.
The current investigation would be the latest in a slew of investigations that have been initiated by NHTSA into the performance of self-driving vehicles, with earlier probes into General Motors’ Cruise (GM) and Amazon’s Zoox (AMZN).
In February, Waymo filed a voluntary recall notice with the NHTSA regarding software previously used on its driverless cars.
