Fortescue Metals (OTCQX:FSUMF) (OTCQX:FSUGY) said it has produced first ore from its Belinga hematite operations in Gabon, ahead of a planned delivery date at the end of the year, Argus reported Wednesday.
The 2M tons/year Belinga project marks Fortescue’s (OTCQX:FSUMF) (OTCQX:FSUGY) first iron ore production outside of Australia, with the ore loaded onto a train just a few days ago, CEO Fiona Hick reportedly told the World Mining Congress in Brisbane.
Hick also offered an update of the Iron Bridge magnetite project, which delivered to specification with greater than 67% iron grade and low impurities detected within the first week of processing.
Iron Bridge achieved first production in April, with a first shipment now targeted for July.
