Driving the Noncitizen Voting Scandal: Registration With License
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

For years, blue states have been issuing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens and making it as easy as possible for “authorized presence” foreigners to get approved as well. At the same time, these same states have aggressively promoted automatic voter registration when residents get a license. Gee, who could have ever figured out that there may be problems down the road?

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill on July 21 “admitted that around 6,600 noncitizens were registered to vote in the Garden State due to a software glitch courtesy of the Motor Vehicle Commission’s (MVC) automatic voter registration system. What’s even more alarming is that about 400 of those illegals cast ballots,” Liberty Nation News’ Kelli Ballard reports. In 2019, New Jersey passed legislation allowing illegal aliens to get driver’s licenses. It became law in 2021.

Garden State Two-Step Shuffle

“State officials made clear when the law took effect that a standard driver’s license issued under the program could not be used to vote or serve as proof of voting eligibility. Applicants were still required to meet all voter registration requirements, including US citizenship,” Eric Scott at WKXW-Radio in New Jersey writes.

Scott makes the simple deduction that should be obvious to all. “The immediate cause of the mistaken registrations was the software malfunction. But without the 2021 expansion allowing [illegal aliens] to obtain standard driver’s licenses and interact with the MVC licensing system, those applicants would never have entered the automatic voter registration process in the first place.”

It’s not only illegal aliens. Michigan does not allow illegals to acquire driver’s licenses, but any foreigner legally residing in the state is eligible. “About 184,000 [immigrants in Michigan] are lawful permanent residents, and 82,000 are temporary immigrants (including nonimmigrant visa holders and international students),” FWD.US, the notoriously partisan “nonpartisan” political advocacy organization created by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, states.

Spurring a Voter Registration Surge in Michigan

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has been in office since 2019. She is the current overwhelming favorite to win the August 4 party primary to become the Democrat nominee for governor this year. “When Benson took office, the Great Lakes State had approximately 7.5 million registered voters, which was about 300,000 fewer than the voting-age population of roughly 7.8 million,” The Midwesterner reports. “Over the next several years, the state added 700,000 registrations, many automatically through driver’s license renewals, bringing the total to 8.2 million registered voters for a voting-age population of about 7.9 million by 2022, the same year Democrats regained full control of state government for the first time in four decades.”

It just doesn’t add up… or does it?

Benson has spent much of the past year downplaying allegations of non-citizen voting on her watch. While widely reported controversies in Muskegon and concerning a Chinese national college student center around aggressive Democrat coordinated canvassing efforts mostly involving same-day voting registration, once again we see automatic voter registration at the Motor Vehicles Department playing a major role in significantly upping the risk.

In another crucial Rust Belt state, things are even more forthright.

‘Some Say Not a Citizen. They Still Get on the Rolls’

“Pennsylvania has been covering up for years the tens of thousands of aliens who got on the voter rolls there for 20 years,” J. Christian Adams, president of the watchdog group Public Interest Legal Foundation, told Just the News in 2023.

Pennsylvania Secretary of State Al Schmidt “knows the truth and won’t tell it,” Adams asserted.

“In 2017, Schmidt, a Republican who was a Philadelphia city commissioner at the time, told a Pennsylvania Senate committee that there were over 100,000 matches of voter registration records to state driver’s license numbers with Immigration and Naturalization Service indicators,” the news site detailed.

Here’s that familiar problem again:

“Adams said the ‘vast majority’ of non-citizens ‘are motor voter registrations’ – referring to the 1993 National Voter Registration Act that made it easier for people applying for a driver’s license to also register to vote….

“He also said that when non-citizens go to a Department of Motor Vehicles office, many of them ‘lie,’ saying they are US citizens, and ‘get registered’ to vote.

“‘Some people say ‘no’ and they still get registered to vote,’ Adams said. ‘I’ve just got stacks of voter registration forms. People will actually say, “no, I’m not a US citizen.” They still get on the voter rolls.’”

Are you beginning to sense a pattern here?

“The potential for the noncitizen population to register to vote, and then to vote, stems largely from the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, or ‘Motor Voter Law,’” Rosemary Jenks, Co-founder and Policy Director at the Immigration Accountability Project, told a House Judiciary subcommittee hearing in 2024.

“The NVRA essentially integrates the driver’s license application process with the voter registration process in covered states (all states and the District of Columbia, except Idaho, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming). When combined with the requirement that these states accept the federal voter registration form, which simply requires applicants to check a box indicating their US citizenship and then sign their name under penalty of perjury, this integration makes it virtually impossible to prevent noncitizens from registering to vote – either accidentally or intentionally.”

And that is how it is done. When you pair too-easy voter registration with an avowed determination to allow foreigners to obtain driver’s licenses, the foundation for fraud is already complete.
