BKV Corporation has completed the acquisition of all issued and outstanding equity interests of Bedrock Production in a transaction valued at approximately $370m.
This deal results in the acquisition of Bedrock Energy Partners’ Barnett Shale assets.
The acquisition encompasses around 97,000 net acres that will directly complement BKV’s current holdings.
It also includes essential midstream infrastructure and a production rate of approximately 108 million cubic feet equivalent per day, as of the quarter ending 30 June 2025, with around 63% of this production being natural gas.
The assets comprise 1,121 production sites that offer suitable economic prospects, characterised by low base decline rates of around 7% over both one-year and five-year periods.
They also include approximately 800 billion cubic feet equivalent of proven reserves, based on NYMEX strip pricing, as of 30 June 2025.
The acquisition also adds around 50 new drilling sites, each with lateral lengths of around 10,000ft, offering more favourable natural gas price break-evens compared to BKV’s current inventory.
Additionally, it includes 80 cost-effective refracturing sites, presenting significant opportunities for future development, BKV added.
The deal is said to be a major move in the expansion of BKV’s operational presence and production capacity in the Barnett Shale.
BKV CEO Chris Kalnin said: “This strategic consolidation of high-quality Barnett Shale assets represents a natural extension of our proven operational excellence in this premier natural gas basin.
“By combining Bedrock’s complementary assets with our existing infrastructure and deep operational expertise in the Barnett Shale, we are strengthening our position as the dominant operator in this basin while creating substantial value for our shareholders. This transaction exemplifies our disciplined approach to growth – consolidating high-quality assets where we have proven expertise along with existing infrastructure to maximise operational synergies and capital efficiency.”
Based in Denver, Colorado, BKV is an energy company focused on producing natural gas from its owned and operated upstream assets.
In February this year, BKV partnered with a midstream energy operator to advance a carbon capture and sequestration facility at a natural gas plant in south Texas.
