Reza Hooda: Unlocking Freedom in Accounting
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

In this episode, KC Brothers interviews Reza Hooda, an accounting firm owner and author of ‘The Four Pillars’. They discuss the journey of accounting practice owners towards achieving freedom, the flaws in traditional billable hour models, and the importance of pricing strategies and positioning.

Reza emphasizes the need for specialization and niche marketing, as well as the transformative role of AI in content marketing. The conversation highlights the shift towards remote practices and the opportunities that have arisen from recent societal changes.

Here are the three main highlights you won’t want to miss.

1. Freedom Through Smarter Business Models

The conversation emphasizes that many accounting firm owners start their practices in pursuit of freedom—of time, money, and lifestyle. However, traditional models like billable hours often trap them in long workweeks with little return. Reza shares how he transformed his business to reclaim that freedom.

“I ended up being chained to a glorified job… until I… realized there was a different way of doing things. And there was an alternative to trading time for money.” – Reza

2. Pricing Based on Value, Not Time

Reza advocates strongly for moving away from billing by the hour and toward value-based pricing. He explains how pricing should reflect the outcome or peace of mind delivered to clients, not the time spent.

“Prices don’t come from costs… there is only a correlation between price and value, not between price and time or price and costs.” – Reza

3. AI as a Marketing Superpower

The episode also explores how AI is becoming a game-changer for accountants, especially in content marketing. Reza encourages firm owners to start using AI tools to scale their online presence and attract clients more efficiently.

“AI is not going to replace accountants, but people using AI will… It is just blowing my mind what AI can do now with content generation marketing.” – Reza

If you want to hear more about these topics give the episode a listen.
