Product Update: Capacity Planning

What’s New

Canopy’s newest Capacity Planning release gives firm leaders a faster, smarter way to visualize and balance workloads in real time. The addition of a drag-and-drop Board View allows users to instantly reassign tasks with fewer clicks—right from inside Workflow—while keeping budgets and hour estimates automatically in sync.

A new Two-Week Liveboard offers a focused dashboard to view and act on workload capacity for this week and next, complete with clickable tasks and subtasks. Together, these updates reduce bottlenecks, eliminate manual rebalancing steps, and help firms avoid burnout by making staffing decisions at a glance.

Capacity-PlanningWhy It Matters

Firms are under constant pressure to deliver more work with fewer people. Every hour matters, but most teams can’t easily see who’s over capacity and who has bandwidth. When reassigning work takes multiple clicks across multiple screens, efficiency and morale both suffer.

Capacity Planning in Canopy gives firms the clarity and control to balance workloads in seconds.

With a simple drag-and-drop Board View, firm leaders can visualize every team member’s workload, reassign work instantly, and keep hour estimates and budgets in sync — all inside the Workflow module they already use.

And with the new Capacity Planning Two Week dashboard in Insights, firms can see all task and subtask data, access hyperlinks to tasks and clients, and take action on reallocating tasks as necessary.

Where to Find It

Both features are in open beta and can be found in the Experimental Features menu within Settings.

For the board view, once turned on, you’ll see a new icon in the top right corner of your task list to help you toggle between List View and Board View.

For the liveboard, once turned on, you’ll see a new Canopy-built liveboard within Insights.
