Canopy Unveils Industry-First Built-In AI Intake, Plus a Significant Enhancement to Engagements

SALT LAKE CITY – October 16, 2025 – Canopy, the leading all-in-one practice management platform built for modern accounting firms, today introduced AI questionnaires as part of Smart Intake, the only AI-powered client intake system built natively into a practice-management platform, alongside a completely re-imagined Engagements module. Together, the new product features give accounting firms one seamless place to propose, collect, and deliver work, saving time and creating a smoother client experience.

Smart Intake Now Includes AI-Powered Questionnaires & Organizers

Smart Intake is receiving its third update this year with the addition of AI-powered questionnaires that build personalized organizers for each client using data already stored in Canopy. The system predicts which documents and answers are needed, pre-fills known information, and automatically matches and renames uploaded files. Or firms can digitize an organizer provided by their tax software, complete with conditional logic and a dynamic, built-in real-time document checklist. Canopy can then match files uploaded in bulk to the requested items. Firms save up to 50 minutes per client while giving clients a smoother, faster experience.

All-New Engagements

The all-new Engagements brings a modern, brandable proposal experience right into Canopy. Firms can include welcome videos, brochures, and sleek templates—no third-party tools required. An ever-present preview shows exactly what clients will see, cutting out test sends and confusion. And with tiered package options coming this fall, firms can offer clients more choice while capturing more value from every engagement.

These expansions allow firms to replace single point solutions specifically designed for engagements that don’t integrate with the rest of their software. With Canopy’s all-in-one integrated experience, engagements are tied directly into a firm’s workflow, billing, and other practice management tools.

“Canopy is aggressively adding to its software offerings,” said Hanna Bjornn, VP of Product at Canopy. “Our all-new engagements will make starting work with a new client even easier, and our latest addition to Smart Intake will make obtaining needed client data faster and more efficient.”

Canopy isn’t stitching together tools from other vendors. We’re building an all-in-one platform—natively, from the ground up. Every client interaction, every workflow, every payment, every insight—living in one seamless system.

That means fewer tools to manage. A simpler system for your team. One portal for your clients. No dependency on someone else’s roadmap or integrations. A platform you can rely on—seamless by design, continuously improving, and built to power the future of your firm. Canopy is the only practice management platform that offers all of these features in one place.

These additions to Canopy are part of the company’s ongoing commitment to making the work accountants do more efficient. Earlier this year, Canopy raised $70 million to continue improving its product. These new tools, along with many others currently in development, will continue to improve the accounting profession’s top all-in-one platform.

Coming Soon

Canopy is committed to keep evolving its platform to meet the varied needs of the accounting profession. Future plans include improvements to billing, bulk invoicing, Insights, practice intelligence, smarter workflows, and, of course, more AI integrations into new and existing products. Want to learn more about Canopy’s roadmap? Attend Canopy Summit 2025, registration for this free online event is open now.
