This Kielbasa and Cabbage Skillet is a hearty, one-pan family dinner that costs less than $10 to make and combines smoky sausage, tender cabbage, golden potatoes, and simple pantry staples for a quick and satisfying meal.

This post is part of our $10 Dinner Ideas series, brought to you by Brigette on our team! Each week, she will be sharing easy, delicious, and affordable family-friendly dinner ideas that cost less than $10 to make, use everyday ingredients, and are super quick meals.

A skillet filled with a savory mix of sautéed potatoes, cabbage, and sliced kielbasa sausage sits on a wooden table.

Why You’ll Love This Kielbasa and Cabbage Skillet Recipe

If you’re looking for an easy meal to throw together and serve in less than 30 minutes, here you go! Kielbasa often goes on sale, making it an exceptionally affordable meat. Cabbage and potatoes are cheap and filling, while providing nutrional value at the same time. You can add in some extra veggies if you want – carrots especially are a great and colorful addition! My whole family loves this Kielbasa, cabbage, and potatoes meal (even the ones who aren’t huge cabbage fans). There are a few of us who think it tastes great with bbq sauce or ketchup on the side.

I added in some Texas Toast (that I got for super cheap on sale with a rebate), but there are lots of other yummy bread possibilities that you can use instead, like Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits.

How to Make Cabbage Kielbasa Skillet:

1. Scrub and peel the potatoes (you can also leave the peel on if you prefer) and chop into bite-size chunks.

2. Place the potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.

Peeled russet potatoes are being chopped on a small blue cutting board with a large kitchen knife resting beside the diced pieces.

3. Microwave the potatoes for 4 minutes. Stir and microwave again for 4-5 minutes, or until tender.

4. Finely dice the onion and garlic. Chop the cabbage and slice the kielbasa.

5. Heat 1 Tablespoon of olive oil in a large wok or frying pan.

6. Sauté the finely diced onions and garlic until tender.

Chopped onions and garlic are being sautéed in a black skillet with a light sizzle, releasing steam

7. Add the sliced kielbasa and fry until beginning to brown.

8. Add 3 more Tablespoons of oil (or more as needed) and add the potatoes. Fry until beginning to brown.
