Day 2: 0 Savings Challenge (a confession and does this disqualify me from today??)

Okay, confession time…

It’s Day 2 of the $100 Savings Challenge and I accidentally didn’t look ahead to what today’s challenge was — until this morning! Oops!

Word to the wise: always plan ahead! More on that below.

But first, if you haven’t signed up for the $100 Savings Challenge, be sure follow the directions to sign up (there are prizes!!):

How To Participate in the $100 Savings Challenge

Go sign up for the $100 Savings Challenge to get your free 14-day plan.

Every week day of the challenge, I’ll be posting on Instagram, Facebook, and here on the blog as I work through the challenge myself.

I will invite you to do the daily challenges with me and to share your successes! Every day that you complete the challenge and submit it, you’ll be entered to win one of 5 $100 Amazon gift cards we’re giving away randomly at the end.

You can participate every day or just some of the days — whatever works for you! But every day that you participate and fill out the simple form, you are entered to win!

Day 2 Challenge:

No-Spend Day: Challenge yourself to spend $0 today. No Amazon orders, Starbucks, or random grocery runs. You’ve got this! (Save: $5–$15)

Like I said above, I didn’t plan ahead and look at today’s assignment was until this morning. We had planned a few things for the day that were going to cost money, but we changed our plans to follow the No Spend Day challenge.

One of the things we were planning to do was a quick store run. We leave for an out-of-town baseball tournament tomorrow and I had placed a grocery order to get things before we left. But then I accidentally scheduled it to come Wednesday morning instead of this morning. (I guess it worked out since

But we are running really low on groceries, so Jesse was going to do a store run to grab eggs, milk, and yogurt. We decided to challenge ourselves to just get creative with the groceries we have on hand instead of shopping. I am positive that saved us at least $10 today (probably more, but I’m not going to over-inflate the savings).

I’ll share tomorrow what we ended up eating from the pantry for today — since that’s tomorrow’s project (I looked ahead this time!!)

Some Ways We Saved Money Today:

Ate from the pantry instead of running to the store.

Took the kids to the free childcare at the gym.

Brought my own snacks and water with electrolytes to the gym.

Got a free sample at the gym that I had with mandarin oranges I brought for a snack.

Stayed home and watched a show with the kids instead of going out and doing something that could have cost money.

BUT… I did have a big oopsie. I had a hair appointment scheduled and I totally forgot until just two hours before that that didn’t follow the No Spend Day. I didn’t want to cancel it just to be militant about following the No Spend Day rule (especially because that can mess up the stylist’s day and schedule and there is a cancellation fee!), so I just went ahead with it.

I don’t know if that makes me a No-Spend Day failure?? 🙂

The goal was to save at least $5-$10 today with the No Spend Challenge. I’m going to stick with saying we saved $10 by using what we had and eating from the pantry.

So we’re at $25.25 found/saved so far with the challenge. How much have you saved/found so far as part of the challenge?

Enter to Win a $100 Amazon Gift Card (we’re giving 5 away!)

Go sign up for the challenge here! And just for fun — and to motivate you to join us for the challenge — if you do today’s challenge and fill out the form linked here, you will be entered to win one of 5 $100 Amazon gift cards I’m giving away at the end of the challenge!

Note: We may possibly share a few of the best entries over the course of the challenge, so by submitting the form, you are giving us permission to possibly post your entry. If you’d rather we don’t post it, please note that on your entry.

Did you participate today? I’d love to hear how today went for you!
