AmEx Updates Resy Platform to Make Using Credits Easier
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

Resy, American Express’s digital restaurant reservations platform, recently made it easier for cardholders to know whether their credits will apply to a particular restaurant.

Eateries will now have an icon that indicates whether you can redeem a credit as one of the AmEx perks. And AmEx’s recent acquisition of a similar platform will expand the number of places where you can use your credit.

Here’s what else you need to know.

New icon for eligible restaurants

A recent update to the Resy website and app makes them a bit more user-friendly by adding a small Resy credit eligible icon, which indicates if the AmEx credit is eligible to use at that location. It will also show on the app if you have your American Express card listed in your profile. Enrollment required.

The recent acquisition of Tock, a similar platform for online dining reservations, by American Express means that those locations will be integrated into the Resy system later this year. Resy restaurants are in most major destinations.

In addition to Tock, American Express has a proposed acquisition of TheFork, another online reservations platform for restaurants. With more than 50,000 restaurants in 11 European countries, these may also be integrated into Resy in the coming months. This means that there will eventually be nearly 75,000 bookable venues in American Express’ dining network if the acquisition is completed.

What credit cards include Resy credits?

These credit cards feature annual allotments of credits that can be used at more than 10,000 U.S. Resy venues.

Where can you redeem Resy credits?

It’s not just standard restaurants and cafes where the Amex Resy credit is available. There are also wineries, bottle shops, bars, steakhouses, sushi bars and crab shacks, too. With the recent change, travelers can now see if their favorite restaurant is available for using the Resy credit before they arrive.

Restaurants are constantly being added to the platform, but this also means that others may discontinue working with Resy. So it makes sense to check back frequently to see the list of places you can visit in your preferred city.

Most Resy restaurants accept American Express credit cards. But you won’t be able to use the credit at the ones that don’t accept the cards. This information will now be visible on the Resy website and app so that diners can better plan where they want to eat and take advantage of this perk.

You don’t need to make a reservation via the Resy website to be eligible to redeem the credit either. Simply enroll your eligible American Express card in Resy to take advantage of the perk.

Making credits easier to use

With this recent change and the impending integration of Tock restaurants to the Resy system, it will become easier to see where you can redeem your Amex Resy credits when dining out. Eligible venues where you can use Resy will now be marked with an icon indicating that you can take advantage of this credit card perk during your visit.
