JetBlue Adds Perks for Families, Cuts for Entry-Level Elites
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

JetBlue Airways just announced changes to its loyalty program, TrueBlue — and like most updates, it’s a mixed bag. In this case, families and top-tier Mosaic elites come out on top. But if you’re an elite status member at the lowest level, expect fewer perks going forward.

One of the more positive updates: In a first-of-its-kind policy, flying with kids on JetBlue could soon help parents earn Mosaic status faster.

Here’s what to know about the upcoming changes, announced on Oct. 16, 2025.

Coming soon: Family Tiles

Starting Feb. 1, 2026, tiles earned by kids can count toward parents’ elite status and perks. JetBlue is calling this new program Family Tiles. (Tiles are the unit JetBlue uses to measure elite progress.) Among U.S. airlines, it’s the first to reward families in this way.

We don’t yet have all the details on exactly how this program will work. In JetBlue’s announcement, the airline said kids will need to be “enrolled in Family Tiles and linked to a parent/guardian TrueBlue account.” But other eligibility requirements and other details aren’t yet available.

Still, it’s a boost for families who fly together. Rather than each child earning their own Mosaic elite status, parents can have those flights count toward their earnings.

This Family Tiles concept complements JetBlue’s existing Points Pooling feature, which lets up to seven members combine TrueBlue points with no transfer fees.

Other positive changes for TrueBlue

Effective immediately, flyers will get an extra month of elite status. Instead of elite status expiring on Dec. 31, 2025, it’ll run through Jan. 31, 2026. The idea here is to let flying and spending activity at the end of the year count toward your elite status.

Going forward, elite status will continue to be extended through Jan. 31, too. That means, for example, if you qualify for elite status in May 2026, you’ll have that status through Jan. 31, 2028. Previously, it would have expired on Dec. 31, 2027.

Starting Feb. 1, 2026, other changes will take effect:

More points for Mosaic 3 and 4: Mosaic 3 members will earn a total of 10 points per dollar when booking directly with JetBlue, while Mosaic 4 members (the highest tier) will earn 11 points per dollar.

More upgrades for Mosaic 4: Instead of receiving two Move to Mint upgrade certificates per elite-qualifying year, Mosaic 4 members will get four. Mint is JetBlue’s version of first class, so this effectively doubles the upgrades.

Lounge access: when JetBlue opens its first lounges in New York and Boston later this year, Mosaic 4 members will get complimentary access. (If you want access to these lounges and don’t have status, consider JetBlue’s premium card, which will also grant access to these lounges.)

TrueBlue cuts for 2026

Starting Feb. 1, 2026, some benefits are getting cut or rolled back, including:

Fewer free checked bags: If you’re a Mosaic 1 member, you’ll get one free checked bag instead of two. All other members and Mint bookings will continue to get two free checked bags.

Companion upgrades: Currently, you can upgrade up to eight travel companions with your elite status. Starting on Feb. 1, 2026, Mosaic 1 and 2 members can upgrade two travel companions, while Mosaic 3 and 4 members will be able to upgrade up to four. This is a huge cut if you fly with a big group.

Fewer free drinks: In 2026, all Mosaic members flying in standard economy will get just one free alcoholic drink, down from three. Drinks will still be free in upgraded seats, Mint and any transatlantic flight.

In short, there’s more upside for top elites, but a few cuts for those at the lowest levels. Whether these will affect your options will depend on how much you’re currently using them.

Biggest winners? Families and top-tier elites

Overall, these changes are a win for families and top-tier Mosaic elites. With these changes, parents stand to earn elite status — and therefore more perks — even faster.

Plus, Mosaic 3 and 4 members will earn more JetBlue points for flights booked directly, keep two free checked bags and unlock more Mint upgrades. Mosaic 4 members will also get lounge access, though it hasn’t been announced if they’ll get free guests or be allowed to bring kids into the lounges.

While these changes look good at first glance, the fine print will determine their ultimate usefulness. Still, the Family Tiles program is an innovative addition and, for families, the biggest highlight of this batch of updates.
