Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the gained 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the were Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:), which rose 3.64% or 112.00 points to trade at 3,185.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:) added 3.46% or 217.00 points to end at 6,491.00 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:) was up 3.40% or 101.00 points to 3,070.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kobe Steel, Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 2.82% or 30.00 points to trade at 1,033.00 at the close. Nippon Express Holdings,Inc. (TYO:) declined 1.99% or 160.00 points to end at 7,880.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:) was down 1.89% or 220.00 points to 11,420.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1952 to 1603 and 274 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.52% to 17.08.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.99% or 0.80 to $81.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.87% or 0.74 to hit $85.67 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 3.25 to trade at $1,997.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.25% to 132.74, while EUR/JPY rose 0.37% to 144.76.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 101.75.
