Delft-based medtech startup STIL lands €2M to grow non-invasive tremor relief tech

Delft-based STIL, a neurotechnology startup reshaping treatment options for essential tremor, announced that it has secured €𝟮M in growth capital.

The newly raised funds will be used to scale the team, strengthen clinical partnerships, and accelerate international go-to-market efforts.

What does STIL solve?

A tremor is an involuntary shaking in the limbs. Over 30 million people worldwide with Parkinson’s Disease, essential tremor, and other tremor disorders have trouble in daily life due to tremors.

Even though a tremor itself is harmless, it causes serious difficulties with activities in daily life, such as eating and drinking.

Up to this day, there is no cure and current treatment to suppress tremor, either is ineffective, or very invasive.

Here’s where the Dutch startup STIL comes into play.

STIL: Developing anti-tremor orthosis

STIL has developed an innovative solution that suppresses tremors: the anti-tremor orthosis.

This CE-marked medical device contains specialized dampers that suppress the tremor but don’t restrict voluntary motion.

Founded by IJsbrand de Lange and Nicola Pambakian, STIL developed a new treatment for tremors: the STIL orthosis.

Designed for people suffering from essential tremors, dystonia and Parkinson’s disease, STIL’s device can reduce forearm tremors by more than 80 per cent, restoring people’s independence and enabling activities of daily life.

We integrated a specialized damping technology in an orthosis, that suppressed the shakes, but still allowed all voluntary movement. In this way, our medical device provides instant relief.

Unlike traditional treatments that often require surgery or pharmaceuticals, STIL Orthosis delivers an innovative wearable that restores control by targeting specific muscle activity through proprietary algorithms and neuromodulation.

By 2024, the company had sold hundreds of devices and established key distribution contracts in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Italy, expanding its reach across Europe.

STIL received €3.6M in funding from reputable investors, including Health Innovations, Rabobank, EIC Accelerator and the Brain Foundation Netherlands.
