Celebrating SchoolBI’s Acquisition by Blackbaud
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

I’m thrilled to share and celebrate that our incredible York IE Labs client, SchoolBI, has been acquired by Blackbaud. A massive congratulations is due to Travis Warren, Ryan Bowse, and the entire SchoolBI team. They have built a truly innovative product that will bring tremendous value to the K-12 education market.

What makes this news so special for me personally, and for our team at York IE, is the incredible sense of déjà vu.

Many years ago, my first major entrepreneurial experience, WhippleHill, was also acquired by Blackbaud. It was at WhippleHill where I truly honed my craft as a Go-to-Market leader, learning firsthand what it takes to scale an idea into a successful, mission-critical solution for schools.

To see a company we have mentored through York IE Labs follow a similar, successful path, landing at an organization I know and respect deeply, is a powerful validation of the operating experience we aim to share with founders.

SchoolBI perfectly embodies York IE’s long-standing obsession with vertical SaaS — software built with deep empathy for the unique workflows, pains, and missions of a specific industry. We’ve always believed that the most enduring companies don’t try to serve everyone; they serve someone better than anyone else can.

SchoolBI is a textbook example: a purpose-built platform created specifically for K–12 schools, solving real operational challenges that generic BI tools simply overlook. Their success reinforces our belief that vertical SaaS founders, when paired with the right operating guidance and industry focus, can build products that become truly indispensable.

This isn’t just a win for SchoolBI; it’s a testament to the talent of their team and the power of focused, strategic growth.

Blackbaud is a powerhouse in the social impact space, and I have no doubt they will be an outstanding home for the SchoolBI technology and team.

This is a full-circle moment, a rare, special kind of success that ties my past GTM experience directly to the future of York IE.

Well done, SchoolBI. The future is bright!
