Berlin-based Climatiq secures €10M to embed carbon intelligence into daily business operations

Berlin-based Climatiq, a provider of carbon intelligence infrastructure, has secured €10M in a Series A round led by Alstin Capital, with participation from existing investors Singular and Cherry Ventures.

Alstin Capital is an independent early-stage venture capital fund based in Munich.

Its investment activities focus on fast-growing (B2B) technology companies in the DACH region and Europe, primarily in the Seed and Series A phases.

“CO2 emissions have long been a real cost factor for companies due to regulation, internal carbon pricing, and investor pressure. Effective emissions management requires reliable data, scalable calculation methodologies, and the accurate attribution of emissions to business processes. Even with that in place, they need to be visible to every decision-maker in an organization. With its comprehensive database and AI-based emission factor matching and API-integration tools,Climatiq is in the leading position to become the central infrastructure provider for emissions data,” says Alexander Meyer-Scharenberg, Principal at Alstin Capital.

Fund utilisation

The German company plans to use the funds to improve its AI tools for calculating emissions from activities, products, and suppliers.

A key focus will be scope 3 emissions, such as those stemming from suppliers and transportation of goods.

These emissions account for approximately 90 per cent of a company’s total carbon footprint, but they are challenging to measure accurately due to the scattered nature of the data and the complexity of the methods.

Additionally, Climatiq will also invest in building its partner network and expanding its database, which has over 200,000 emission conversion factors from different regions and industries worldwide.

Climatiq: Carbon intelligence platform

Founded by Hessam Lavi, Isis T Baulig, and Philip von Bierberstein, Climatiq’s mission is to embed carbon intelligence into daily business operations and enable better decision-making.

The company’s API-first platform integrates accurate emissions data directly within enterprise software where business activities are managed to eliminate the information silos that prevent real carbon action.

Through integrations with over 200 business operations platforms, including leading ERP and supply chain management providers like Celonis, IFS, and Siemens, Climatiq has delivered over a billion carbon calculations via their APIs in the last 12 months to global businesses.

Additionally, Climatiq serves a growing community of 30,000 sustainability professionals, researchers, and non-profits using its free offering.

All methodology and datasets are overseen by a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), consisting of world-renowned climate experts.

Founded in 2021, Climatiq is a certified B Corporation.

“Companies are demanding carbon visibility across all business functions, from strategy and planning to manufacturing and distribution, not just within CSR teams,” says Hessam Lavi, Co-Founder and CEO at Climatiq. “They want their existing tools to become carbon-aware rather than adopting separate tools. Our embedded approach makes emissions data part of daily business decisions where they have an impact.”
