Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

Amsterdam-based Greener Power Solutions, an impact startup looking to lower the CO2 footprint with mobile batteries and smart energy planning, announced the appointment of Jasper van den Driest as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 September 2025.

He will succeed co-founder and outgoing CEO Dieter Castelein, who steps down after eight years of leadership.

“I am tremendously proud of what Dieter and I have achieved over the past 8 years. From scratch, we have, together with the team, shifted the off-grid energy markets, meaning we are now in an excellent position to grow further and drive our mission across European markets. We are very much looking forward to the fresh insight and leadership Jasper will bring to the table when he joins us in September,” says Klaas Akkerma,n COO and Co-Founder of Greener Power Solutions.

This leadership transition comes as the Dutch company enters a new phase of international expansion following significant momentum in recent years.

“What started as an ambitious idea to shake up the off-grid energy market has become a reality. With a fleet of more than 200 batteries and counting, Greener has grown into the largest provider of mobile energy solutions in Europe. Together with Klaas Akkerman and a fantastic team, we’ve built something truly special,” says Dieter Castelein in a LinkedIn post.

Additionally, the company is planning to expand its target audience, product range, and services.

“I will remain an ambassador of Greener and will be following the company’s progress with the most interest. Before I move on to new endeavours, I’m taking a well-earned sabbatical with my family. We’ll be travelling through Europe in a caravan, pulled by an electric car, of course,” adds Castelein

Who is Jasper van den Driest?

Mr Van den Driest is currently CEO at Vandebron, a Dutch energy retailer serving c. 240,000 households with clean energy and employing c. 275 people.

Previously, he was CEO at Guidion, a B2B marketplace for telecoms and energy technicians.

With a strong drive to accelerate the energy transition and a track record of entrepreneurial leadership and transformational growth across multiple industries, Jasper brings more than 15 years of CEO experience to Greener.

He joins the company to lead its next phase of expansion and professionalisation, building on Greener’s rapid growth and solid foundation.

“I am immensely excited about getting started at Greener in September. The business is well set up to deliver high-quality power solutions across Europe with the continued support of our strong partner CVC DIF. I look forward to working with the talented team to continue delivering outstanding service to our customers and setting new standards in clean, temporary power,” says Jasper van den Driest, Incoming CEO of Greener Power Solutions.

Greener Power Solutions: Deliver clean and sustainable power solutions

Founded in January 2018 by Lukas Kuijken, Dieter Castelein, and Klaas Akkerman, Greener Power Solutions is building technology solutions to make an impact on the CO2 footprint of on- and off-grid energy markets by providing services to the temporary energy industry.

The company creates clean mobile power solutions by using its rental battery fleet and local renewable energy sources.

The company offers rapid turn-key delivery, full-service support, and 24/7 monitoring, powered by its proprietary software that optimises power setups and provides real-time insights into energy use and emissions savings.

Greener’s growth is driven by demand for cleaner, more flexible, and cost-effective alternatives to diesel generators.

Since the investment by CVC DIF in 2022, Greener has reported consistent annual growth, including

The fleet of mobile batteries has grown from 40 in 2022 to 185 today, reaching 250 by the end of the yearThe team has grown from 20 to 65 full-time employeesGreener employees are spread across a greater number of markets, including the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, France, and Sweden

Greener started in the events sector and now also works in construction, infrastructure, rental companies, grid solutions, and EV charging.

“Looking back, I feel incredibly proud. From navigating through COVID, to building this company with my co-founders, and staying loyal to each other throughout. The fact that they are still my best friends says a lot, because that’s not always a given when building a business. But above all, I’m proud of the impact we’ve made on this industry,” says Dieter Castelein in a LinkedIn post.

“Now it’s time to pass the baton. Greener is entering a new phase. The energy transition has only just begun, electrification is the future, and there are opportunities in every country and every market. This next growth phase calls for a different type of leadership,” he concludes.
