New Ways to Earn Extra Cash in 2025 (Must Try!)

Do you have ambitious financial goals for 2025? Saving more, getting out of debt, or starting to invest can be tricky, especially given the rising cost of living.

Earning extra income can help you make those goals a reality and may even be easier than finding new ways to save.

Sell Unwanted or Broken Jewellery

Most of our unwanted and broken belongings aren’t going to sell for much, but gold and silver jewellery are a bit different. They don’t depend on their resale value for worth. They can easily be melted down and recycled, and they’re made from extremely valuable materials. The price of gold broke records in 2024, and objects like necklaces, bracelets, watches, and rings can be quite valuable.

The best place to sell silver and gold is a jewellery buyer that makes their prices public. That makes it easy to compare prices before you go in.

Recycle Old Clothes with Vintage Apps

While the value of gold and silver jewellery might be obvious, there might also be hidden cash in the back of your closet. Old clothing in good condition can sell for great prices if you find the right buyer at the right time.

Fashion is cyclical, with trends coming in and out of style every few years. What was once cool becomes old-fashioned, and what was once considered out-of-date may come back in style. It’s why a number of Y2K trends are coming back, including wide leg jeans and bucket hats.

Use apps and platforms like Depop and Vinted to find people who are looking for unique vintage styles to get better prices for your old clothes.

Turn Your Art into a Revenue Stream

Do you make art, crafts, music, or photography? There are all kinds of ways you can monetize your hobbies, and the internet has made it easier than ever to find people willing to pay for your creative skills.

You don’t have to turn your creative energy into a full-time job. A lot of creative industries are very precarious, and doing them full-time can put you in a difficult financial position. However, pursuing these hobbies part-time and still making money can be both personally fulfilling and help you add to your income.

Make Use of Short-Term Rental Apps

If you have extra space in your home, or, even better, an ADU like a granny suite, you can earn extra money by using short-term rental apps. You can even rent out your entire home or condo if you have a place you can stay, such as a partner’s or friend’s place.

These platforms take a percentage of your earnings from bookings, but if you live in an area that attracts a lot of tourists, it can be very profitable. If it’s your primary residence, focus on priority seasons or events when there are larger numbers of people looking for a place to stay in your area.

There are many other ways you can earn extra income with a side hustle. These are just some ideas to get you started in 2025.
