OpenSea, the largest non-fungible token market platform by trading sales volumes and trading activities, continue to fulfil its previous commitment to showcasing non-fungible tokens as cultural artefacts and support the digital artists and collectors who have shaped the non-fungible token space. As part of its initiative, the OpenSea NFT marketplace has acquired the Meebits #7421 NFT collection and deposited it in its NFT reserve.
OpenSea Adds Meebits #7421 Into NFT Reserve
In a September 24 blog post, the OpenSea NFT team confirmed that they have bought the Meebits #7421 non-fungible token collection and deposited it in its recently launched non-fungible token reserve. OpenSea is one of the world’s first and largest market platforms for non-fungible tokens and crypto tokens, letting NFT users buy, sell, and trade digital assets like art and virtual items using blockchain technology.
Launched in May 2021 by @larvalabs, Meebits expanded digital identity into 3D. With 20,000 unique voxel avatars, they weren’t just PFPs, they were built for movement, animation, and life inside virtual worlds.

Earlier this month, the OpenSea NFT market platform unveiled its commitment to preserving the non-fungible token culture. At the time, the marketplace established an NFT reserve called as “The Flagship Collection.” This initiative involved recognizing NFTs as the foundation and a pillar of digital culture. In a blog post, OpenSea noted that “The Flagship Collection” was their best way of spotlighting the art pieces that will stand the test of time. It allocated +$1 million to buy NFTs.

To ensure a credible selection and acquisition of NFT art, the OpeaSea NFT leadership selected a committee that included some of its staff, with guidance from trusted external advisors. The team was mandated to ensure thoughtful and representative curation. The NFTs, which will be taken to reserve, range from emerging artists to rare, high-profile NFTs, and always with an eye toward long-term cultural relevance. To ensure maximum integrity, the board was given full decision-making authority over all NFT purchases.
Meebits Joins Punks In The NFT Reserve
Meebits, a globally acknowledged non-fungible token collection featuring a fixed set of 20,000 unique, algorithmically generated 3D voxel characters, originally created by Larva Labs (the creators of CryptoPunks NFTs), is the second non-fungible token collection to enter the OpenSea NFT reserve. Meebits #7421 has joined CryptoPunks #5273 NFT, which was deposited into the reserve during the launching.
Launched in 2021, CryptoPunks is a globally acknowledged non-fungible token series, featuring a limited edition of 10,000 pixilated NFTs previously from the digital asset firm Larva Labs but now managed by the Infinite Node Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at preserving the non-fungible token culture. The Meebits NFTs have been out here with CryptoPunks since day one, pushing the limits of digital assets and showing NFTs can be more than static.
