New cardholders for the Capital One Savor Student Cash Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Quicksilver Student Cash Rewards Credit Card can now earn a $100 bonus — twice as much as Capital One’s previous $50 bonus.

Capital One is offering a $100 bonus for new cardholders who spend $300 within the first three months of having their Savor and Quicksilver Student Cash Rewards credit cards (offer does not apply to existing cardholders).

New Savor Student Cash Rewards Credit Card members also receive an unlimited 3% cash back on purchases at eligible grocery stores and restaurants, as well as select streaming services. Additionally, new members can earn 8% cash back on live music, theater, and sporting events when purchasing tickets through Capital One Entertainment. Quicksilver Student Cash Rewards cardholders can earn unlimited, daily 1.5% cash back on every purchase and earn 5% cash back on tickets bought through Capital One Entertainment. Both cards earn 5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.

In addition to the $100 bonus, Savor Student and Quicksilver Student cardholders can earn cash-back rewards on everyday purchases.

Savor Student cardholders earn:

8% cash back on purchases for live entertainment events made via Capital One Entertainment

5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel

Unlimited 3% cash back at grocery stores, restaurants, and on entertainment spending, including popular streaming service purchases

Both cards have no annual fee or foreign transaction fees, and are designed to help students build their credit while maximizing rewards. Additionally, students can still use all the rewards and benefits of their Capital One student credit card after graduation.

Other than the improved benefits of the limited-time offer, being a Capital One Student cardmember offers its own unique slew of benefits:

$0 fraud liability: If your card is lost or stolen, you will not be responsible for unauthorized charges.

24-hour travel assistance services: In the event of a lost or stolen credit card, get an emergency replacement card and a cash advance.

Account alerts from Eno: Receive an alert if Capital One detects a potential mistake or an unusual or unexpected charge.

Card lock: If your card is misplaced, lost, or stolen, you can lock it in the Capital One Mobile app.

Capital One Shopping: This online shopping tool automatically applies available coupon codes to your order.

Extended warranty: You can receive additional warranty protection at no charge on eligible items purchased with your credit card.

Redeem your rewards with PayPal: You can also use your Capital One rewards on eligible purchases at numerous online stores when you redeem your rewards with PayPal.

Shop with your rewards: Use your rewards for purchases on Amazon.com

Travel accident insurance: Get automatic insurance for a covered loss at no extra charge when you use your credit card to purchase your travel fare.

Virtual card numbers: Eno provides virtual card numbers to pay for online purchases, keeping your actual card number private and safe.

For students who plan to spend more time out and about this summer — whether that’s making vacation plans or checking out the next big concert — the Savor Student credit card might be more promising with the unlimited 3% cash back for dining and entertainment spending and elevated cash back on Capital One Entertainment and Travel purchases.

Rewards rate

8% cash back on Capital One Entertainment purchases5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel3% cash back on dining, entertainment, popular streaming services, and at grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart and Target)1% cash back on all other purchases

For the student focused more on everyday purchases, the Quicksilver Student may be more beneficial due to the daily cash back on all purchases, even if the rate is slightly lower.

Not sure if you qualify for the Capital One Savor Student or Quicksilver Student credit card? You can check your eligibility before applying here — and it won’t affect your credit score.

Student credit cards are a beginner-friendly option for many college students, allowing first-time cardholders to learn how to build credit and maintain a healthy credit utilization ratio — while also maximizing their rewards for a variety of purchases. Student credit cards allow students to become familiar with the process of making payments and checking their credit score and balance.

You must be at least 18 years of age and a student to qualify for student credit cards. However, individuals 18 or over who are enrolled — or admitted and planning to enroll in the next three months — at an accredited university, community college, or other higher education institution, may also be eligible for a student credit card.
