On Friday, we get the Monthly Treasury Statement, arguably the best source of information on the flow of money into and out of the U.S. Treasury, the nation’s financier. The focus is on customs duty, a line item in the budget, that has ballooned due to tariffs. U.S. businesses paid $22.2 billion in May, a record monthly amount. It will also categorize other government sources of income and detail how much we’re spending on education, social security and other items.
