October Is Estate Planning Awareness Month, Don’t Wait to Protect What Matters Most
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

October is Estate Planning Awareness Month, the perfect time to finally take charge of your financial future and protect your loved ones. If you’ve been putting off creating or updating your estate plan, you’re not alone, many people delay because they think they’re too young, too busy, or unsure where to start. But waiting can leave your family vulnerable and your wishes unclear to others.

At Geiger Law Office, we make the process simple, guided, and stress-free. Whether you’re creating your first estate plan or reviewing one you made years ago, now is the ideal time to get it done before life gets too busy with the holiday season and end-of-year travel.

Why Now Is the Right Time

Life changes quickly, marriages, divorces, new children or grandchildren, a new home, or even changes in estate planning and tax law can all affect your estate plan. Without an up-to-date plan, the people you love most could face unnecessary stress, costs, and conflict. Taking the time to put your wishes in writing now gives you peace of mind knowing your assets, values, and family is protected.

Our Simple 6-Step Estate Planning Process

At Geiger Law Office, we’ve designed a six-step process to make estate planning clear and manageable. Here’s what you can expect:

Call Our Intake DepartmentStart by calling our office at 760-448-2220 or scheduling a call with our friendly intake team on our Book-A-Call page. They’ll gather a few details and match you with the right attorney for your needs. In addition to in-person meetings, we offer Zoom and conference calls for those with busy schedules.
Receive Your Welcome PacketYou’ll receive a personalized welcome packet with helpful information about your attorney and our firm along with a brief form for you to complete for your first meeting to help your attorney prepare for the meeting with you.
Meet With Your AttorneyDuring your meeting, your attorney will listen to your goals, explain your options, and design a plan that fits your family, assets, and wishes. The attorney will also explain the cost and terms of the engagement and schedule your signing with a notary at our office.
Review Your Trust Summary DocumentsAbout a week before your signing, you’ll have the opportunity to review your trust summary and a couple of other plan documents that outline your plan in clear, easy-to-understand terms.  This leaves time to make any changes or answer any questions before your signing.
Signing and Funding MeetingYou’ll come to our office and meet with the notary who will guide you through the signing process. After you have signed all of your documents, a member of our legal team will go over your funding trust instructions and discuss the next steps to funding your assets to your trust.
Secure Your Trust — and Share the Good News! After signing your documents, you’ll take your documents home and secure them in a safe place. Let your Successor Trustee know where your documents are located and give them our information. Many clients also share their positive experience with friends and family so they can protect their legacies too.

Don’t Wait — Take the First Step Today

Estate Planning Awareness Month is the perfect reminder to stop procrastinating and start planning. Every day you wait is another day your family’s future remains uncertain and at risk. Take control, find peace of mind, and let our experienced team walk you through every step.

If you, a friend, or a loved one needs help establishing or updating an estate plan, we’re here to help. Contact our Intake Department at 760-448-2220 or visit us online at Submit an inquiry on our Contact Us page. We proudly serve families across California from our offices in Carlsbad (San Diego County) and Laguna Niguel (Orange County).
