Madewell Recalls Thousands of Women’s Sweaters. See Affected Styles
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

Madewell is recalling about 5,900 women’s sweaters after federal safety officials said the garments fail to meet a mandatory flammability standard, creating a burn hazard that could result in serious injury or death.

The recall, announced July 16 by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, covers two styles of Madewell-branded sweaters sold nationwide at Madewell and T.J. Maxx stores, as well as online at Madewell.com.

According to the CPSC, the recalled sweaters violate the mandatory federal standard for clothing textiles. The agency said the garments pose a risk of serious burn injuries or death if they catch fire.

Madewell has received one report of a sweater catching fire. No injuries have been reported.

Which Madewell Sweaters Are Being Recalled?

The recall involves Madewell Double V-Neck Pullover sweaters (Style #NT611) and V-Neck Cardigan sweaters (Style #NT612).

The sweaters were sold with or without buttons and came in light blue and cream. They feature long sleeves, a V-neck and were available to purchase in women’s sizes XS through L.

Consumers can identify the recalled products by checking the neck label, which displays the “Madewell” brand name and size, and the sewn-in side seam label marked with Style #NT611 or Style #NT612 and “HO24.”

The sweaters were sold from December 2024 through October 2025 for between $138 and $148.

What Should Consumers Do?

Consumers should stop using the recalled sweaters immediately and contact Madewell for a full refund in the original form of payment or store credit.

To receive a refund, customers will be asked to destroy the sweater by cutting it in half, email a photo of the destroyed garment to Madewell customer service, and then dispose of it.

Consumers with questions can contact Madewell toll-free at 866-544-1937 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET daily or visit the company’s recall page for additional information.
