Apple has released iOS 18, and while it boasts several new features, one particular update is causing quite a stir on social media. The ability to lock and hide apps using Face ID has caught the attention of many users, with some humorously claiming it will aid cheaters. The update includes a fresh look for app icons with color customization, enhanced browsing options for camera rolls, and innovative texting methods such as formatting, animations, and scheduling.

Apple explained that users can move an app to a locked, hidden folder, making messages or emails within the app invisible to searches, notifications, and other system-wide inquiries. Twitter users quickly chimed in, with some dubbing the feature as another “tool for people to be sneaky.” One tweet read, “Apple is for cheaters,” while another jokingly noted, “It’s a cheating ass man working at Apple.”
Despite the controversy, iOS 18 is available for download across millions of devices and is free of charge. Users can update their systems by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update.
